DNR Encouraging Manitowoc County Hunters to Get Deer Tested for CWD
Jan 14, 2025 | 11:00 AM
After a report of the first Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) case in Manitowoc County, the Wisconsin DNR is asking hunters to get their deer tested.
There is only one place in Manitowoc County where you can test, and that is at the Mishicot DNR station.
The only other close places to test deer for CWD are in Sheboygan County, including Sheboygan, Plymouth, and Random Lake.
The case of CWD was reported in a 1-year-old buck harvested on November 23rd.
The disease is highly contagious to other animals and can spread through direct contact or contaminated environments.
