DAIWA to showcase new PROREX XT Muskie Rods at National Championship Musky Open. |
FOOTHILL RANCH, CA (August 15, 2023) – As more than 1,000 anglers converge on Eagle River, Wisc. this weekend for the 37th annual National Championship Musky Open, they will be among the first to check-out DAIWA’s new PROREX XT musky rod series. Further showing its commitment to the tackle needs of musky and northern pike anglers, the new PROREX XT series covers the basic needs for those hunting the ‘apex predators’ in the freshwater fishing world. This new lineup includes four casting rods that will meet and exceed the requirements of both novice and avid muskie anglers with a one-piece heavy power 7’6” rod, and three telescoping models, including heavy-action 8’6” and extra-heavy 8’6” and 9’5” rods. |
“The telescoping feature on the 8’6” and 9’ PROREX XT rods – and their $99.99 price tag – put them in a category not found in the musky tackle world,” notes Brad Olson who handles DAIWA’s sales efforts with tackle shops throughout Wisconsin. “Those days of short pool stick rods are long gone once anglers realized the advantages longer rod provides for figure 8’s and casting bigger lures to cover more water. But until now with these new PROREX XT, anglers only had the choice of rods $250 and higher that could provide them with the telescoping feature.” |
With durable graphite composite blanks, a Carbide tip top guide to go along with SeaGuide SLRAG guide chain, and all-day-casting comfort from natural cork grips, the PROREX XT musky rods also feature a special hook keeper for big swimbaits like DAIWA’s large profile PROREX Bessie. They’ll match up well with DAIWA’s higher-end, large line capacity casting reels including the Lexa and PROREX TW 300 and 400 size low-profile reels, and also the Millionaire Classic 300 size round reel to provide those just starting on their hunt for muskies an ideal rod and reel set-up for under $200 (USD). |

“We’re thrilled to again be in Eagle River this weekend and supporting the work of the Musky Clubs Alliance of Wisconsin,” said Olson. “Tackle shops throughout the area are just starting to receive shipments of these new rods introduced at the recent ICAST trade show, including Sportsman’s Repair Shop who will also be exhibiting at the event and will have a limited number of new PROREX XT rods for sale along with DAIWA PROREX and Lexa 300 and 400 size reels.” All four rods retail for $99.99 (USD). |
