Subject:  August 24th Walk for the Fallen in Two Rivers

Being There Reaching Out is an organization that provides support to families of soldiers, especially those who have lost loved ones while in service.  This Wisconsin organization has worked for many years to bring together and support these families and to make sure that the lives of their family members are recognized and remembered.  They are bringing their Walk for the Fallen to Two Rivers on August 24th in memory of all those who served.

The special 1-mile walk is open to the public and over 100 families and friends of the BTRO organization are expected for the event from across the state.  The walk has been held in the past at locations across Wisconsin.  It brings together families and the community to remember those who have given the ultimate for our freedom.

Registration begins at 9am with the walk beginning at 10am.  Participants will walk a route around Neshota Park Beach.   The group will reconvene at the Jaycee Pavilion at Neshota Park at 11am for a short ceremony with a greeting and comments from Greg Buckley, City Manager of Two Rivers.  There will be a lunch served for registered participants.  Registrants are not required to walk and can just participate in the lunch and social if they choose.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday there will be a special display of Wisconsin Families of the Fallen Boot Memorial.  This special traveling memorial includes 400 boots with name tags of Wisconsin patriots lost in service of our country.  This will be set up at Central Park, Two Rivers near the band shelter.

People are also welcome to visit the special memorial that was developed in Two Rivers to honor Shaun Novak and all who have served and do serve in our military.  The memorial is located on westbound Mishicot Road / State Highway 147, at the entrance to Holy Cross Cemetery, between 38th Street (to the east) and 39th Street (to the west).  It was funding through local support in the community and has become a destination point for military families.

Those interested in the walk please contact a member of the Novak Family to register by Friday August 16th.  Contact Brenda Novak (mother of Spc. Shaun Novak) via email at: [email protected] or Sheila Novak-Halverson (Aunt) via email at: [email protected].
