Dear Clean Diesel Grant Subscribers,
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is now accepting applications for the 2019 Wisconsin Clean Diesel Grant program! Approximately $770,000 is available through this year’s program to reduce emissions from older diesel engines across the state. Engine emissions include carbon dioxide (CO2), an important greenhouse gas which contributes to climate change. Clean diesel grant programs such as DERA have reduced CO2 emissions in Wisconsin by more than 600,000 tons over the lifetime of the programs.
The equipment and vehicles eligible for funding include school and municipal buses as well as nonroad engines, equipment and vehicles used in construction, cargo handling and agriculture.
Projects that are cost effective and that maximize health benefits will be given priority consideration, as will projects located in:
- Areas of the state that currently do not meet, or have not met in the past, federal air quality standards for ozone and particulate matter.
- Counties identified in the National Air Toxics Assessment as having populations exposed to high particulate matter concentrations due to diesel sources.
- Highly populated counties.
This grant is administered by DNR with funding provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
All application materials are located on the following website: https://dnr.wi.gov/Aid/CleanDiesel.html. Applications are being accepted until January 3, 2020.
Application materials should be thoroughly reviewed to determine eligibility and requirements. If there are any questions after reviewing the materials and forms, please contact Michael Friedlander at [email protected] or (608) 267-0806.
Thank you.
