On Tuesday May 14, 2019 at around 5:09 am I was driving down county highway Q towards Manitowoc and once I pasted Rockwood Rd, I saw some movement in the field to the west. I slowed down to see what it was and all of sudden I saw two deer. Wait! Is that two deer or what? As I drove closer to the location I was sure one was a deer, but the other one was black with what looked like gray hairs on it’s back side. As I came to a very slow speed, I could not take my eyes off of the black colored deer standing there eating. Have any of you seen a black deer in Manitowoc county? In other outdoor news, I have a boat load of turkeys and deer showing up on my cameras everyday. Looks like a bumper year for both and I sure hope all those that are using my land with permission have a successful hunting year. My grandson will have a super year this year for sure. I sure hope and pray all the farmers can get their field work done on time this year and we are blessed with a very good crop harvest this fall. To many of the farmers are suffering from bad crop harvests and weather problems. As a sportsman, you can help our farmers by offering to help them and this might help them get a little relief. Farming is very hard, stressful and mentally affects their lives. Please, if you can spare a day or weekend, help your local farmer the best way you can, even if you don’t hunt on their land, just show them you care about them for all the hard work they do.
