Wisconsin’s outdoor heritage is one of our greatest treasures. Whether it’s the opening day of deer season, casting a line at sunrise, or spending an afternoon in one of our beautiful state parks, generations of Wisconsin families have built lasting memories in the outdoors.
As a lifelong sportsman, protecting Wisconsin’s outdoor heritage isn’t just another campaign issue to me. It’s part of my identity.
I grew up hunting and fishing here in Northeast Wisconsin, and those traditions continue today with my family. They helped shape who I am, and they’re worth protecting for future generations.
My name is Nic Cravillion, and I am running for the Wisconsin State Senate in the First Senate District. As a seventh-generation Wisconsinite, I want my children, and someday my grandchildren, to enjoy the same outdoor traditions that generations of Wisconsinites have cherished before us.
The way to ensure our children become lifelong sportsmen and women who appreciate Wisconsin’s incredible natural resources is to get them engaged early in life. That is why I support expanding opportunities for youth hunting, increasing access to our state parks, and eliminating fishing license fees for Wisconsin residents under 18.
Hunting and shooting sports are an important part of Wisconsin’s outdoor heritage. As your State Senator, I will always defend the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Wisconsinites.
Wisconsin’s outdoors should also be accessible to the men and women who served our nation. As an Army combat veteran, I know many veterans find peace, purpose, and camaraderie through hunting, fishing, and time spent outdoors. In the Senate, I will work to expand opportunities for veterans to enjoy Wisconsin’s hunting, fishing, and state parks.
One issue I’ve heard repeatedly from farmers, hunters, and landowners across Northeast Wisconsin is the growing sandhill crane population. These birds cause significant damage to crops while their population continues to expand. Many hunters recognize the sandhill crane as one of North America’s premier game birds, often referred to as the “ribeye of the sky.” Unfortunately, legislation to establish a hunting season stalled this session, but I will work to get it approved because it would be a win for both our farmers and our hunters.
Another challenge facing Northeast Wisconsin is the growing gray wolf population. While wolves have recovered from the brink of extinction, they now pose an increasing threat to livestock, pets, and wildlife management in many parts of our state. I support Congressman Tom Tiffany’s efforts to return the management of the gray wolf back to individual states, and I look forward to working alongside Tom to establish a responsible wolf management program in Wisconsin, including a regulated hunting season based on sound science and population management.
On August 11, I respectfully ask for your vote. If you’re looking for a proven conservative who understands Wisconsin’s outdoor traditions because he’s lived them, I’d be honored to earn your support.
