McKinney’s Summer Frog Tips

Over midway through the 2026 Bassmaster Elite Series season, Trey McKinney is once again leading the Angler-of-the-Year points race.  Trey fished a frog to an 11th-place finish at the recent Bassmaster Elite at Pasquotank River. Details are everything for this guy. Watch the video for his frog tips, which extend beyond his preferred LEGEND X2 74HF rod.

Walleye Tip: Trolling Around Weeds

Walleyes and weeds go together… especially in the summertime. Trolling and weeds do not… unless you use this simple tip from NWT and St. Croix pro, Brian Bashore of The Walleye Guys.

Meet Our Machinery: Robert Woods

When St. Croix Rod made the decision to launch an all-new fishing reel brand several years ago, we had to build a team before we could build the reels. Robert Woods has been a linchpin for that team. Product Manager for SEVIIN Reels, Robert has been with the company for over four years now and manages the SEVIIN product line from concept through production. In addition to working closely with the SEVIIN Pro Analytical Team, Robert also works with the St. Croix Rod product team on rod-and-reel-combo projects like GXR Lite, GXR Bass, GXR Walleye, and GXR CRUSH. Like the rest of the team here, Robert is an avid multispecies angler, but his favorite game is musky fishing. He says LEGEND X2 is his favorite St. Croix rod series and his favorite SEVIIN reel is LUNEX. Not familiar with that one? Expect to see all the details after ICAST next month! “I get to wake up and talk about fishing every day, with my teammates, our staff, and other anglers of all kinds. It’s the best job in the world,” he says. “To me, there’s nothing better than being at a boat ramp or out on the water and seeing a product you played a key part in developing being used to put fish in the boat. Now, three years into our launch, we’re seeing more and more of them, because we’re developing and bringing to market new reels that make anglers better while also making them happy… because the reels perform at a high level with reliability and anglers can afford them. Whether it’s a guy like me out on the water with my son or a tournament angler at the highest level like Bob Downey, Hank Cherry, or JT Thompkins, thank you to all our SEVIIN anglers who have trusted us with their precious time on the water. You are the reason we do all of this!”
