| The Democrats are done waiting.
They are moving full speed ahead with federal ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ laws (like we’re trying to ban at the state level) that would give them the power to disarm millions of Americans.
And these aren’t file and forget bills, either.
H.R. 7599 has over 100 cosponsors.
S. 889 has dozens of cosponsors.
Both bills are in the Judiciary Committee.
The goal of these bills is nasty: allow federal courts to order the seizure of your firearms and ammo, before you are even charged (let alone convicted) of a crime.
The details of how a federal ‘Red Flag’ law would work are equally shocking and enraging. That’s because they:
- Authorize federal judges to order the confiscation of your firearms without criminal charges ever being filed against you;
- Allow the judge to consider ‘Red Flagging’ in secret (ex-parte) hearings that you won’t know about until it’s over;
- Include the recent purchase of a firearm or ammo as ‘evidence’ that you might be dangerous;
- Can be filed by almost anyone. A bitter ex-spouse, a jealous co-worker, or a crazy neighbor could ruin your life;
- Contain an almost automated renewal process, resulting in a de facto lifetime ban once you’re ‘Red Flagged.’
Make no mistake, this wouldn’t simply impact Wisconsin –- like S.B. 329, which we’ve been fighting in Madison.
It would extend this nationwide, no state would be spared.
There would be nowhere to move to escape it.
That’s why we have to stop these bills now — before they gain even more traction.
I know the GOP has control of Congress right now. But don’t forget many of these same RINOs stabbed gun owners in the back when Joe Biden passed a ‘Red Flag’ funding bill in 2022.
We CANNOT blindly trust the Republicans to oppose this bill.
The good news is that this is an election year. Democrats like Tammy Baldwin (who would happily vote for this) know that pushing this bill may cost their party the midterms.
And Ron Johnson needs to understand that if he does what his party did under Biden, there will be hell to pay.
That’s our leverage–we need to crank on it!
So sign your petition against these bills right away so that Senators Johnson and Baldwin(and your Congressman) know that anyone who votes for this is going to pay a price in November.
