In over 10 years of fighting on behalf of Second Amendment rights, I’ve never seen anything like this.
The Wisconsin Democratic Party is publicly calling for a dozen of the worst gun control bills we’ve ever heard of here in Madison — starting with reinstating a 48-hour waiting period to buy guns!
The days of gun owners being able to sit back and basically ignore the Left here in Wisconsin are quickly drawing to a close.
It’s been coming for some time.
Fueled by the upcoming midterm elections and the belief that they can retake control of the U.S. House AND our General Assembly, Wisconsin Democrats are suddenly running wild.
They are now openly calling for gun control here in Madison that they would not have even dreamed of talking about just a few years ago.
That is why I am writing to you today.
Because while the people of Wisconsin remain pro-gun, the Democrats of today are not like the Democrats we’ve been dealing with for the last few years.
We can’t ignore this, and we can’t blindly trust the GOP to hold the line. We’ve been burned too many times for that.
Please read this entire letter so you understand exactly what we are facing, then sign the “STOP THE WAR ON GUN OWNERS” petitions that we have prepared for you IMMEDIATELY.
Your petitions remind the Democrats that there is a political price to be paid for pushing gun control in our state…
…and we’re going to make sure they pay it if they don’t stand down right now and leave our Second Amendment alone.
While the Wisconsin Democratic Party is calling for a dozen gun control bills, there are four they are pushing above the others:
- Red Flag Gun Seizures; which would allow activist judges to order the confiscation of your firearms before you’ve even been charged — let alone convicted — of a crime.
We’ve stopped this bill for years, but the Democrats weren’t pushing it as hard. Now, with multiple red states having adopted Red Flag laws, they are pushing much harder.
- Statewide Gun Registration, falsely marketed as “Universal Background Checks”; which would force nearly every private firearm transfer to be processed and recorded by the state, creating a de facto gun registry of law-abiding citizens.
Imagine being charged as a FELON for passing down an heirloom rifle to your grandson because you didn’t run his name through a government database! That’s what they want.
- Reinstatement of the mandatory 48-hour waiting period on gun purchases; which delays lawful self-defense for people who may need protection right now!
Waiting periods don’t stop crime, but they do stop single mothers, stalking victims, and people under threat from defending themselves when time matters most – which is why gun owners had WI’s waiting period law repealed in 2015!
- “Safe storage” mandates promoted under the guise of protecting kids; which in reality turn parents into criminals for how they store their own firearms inside their own homes.
These laws invite the government into your household, punish responsible families after a tragedy, and deliberately make firearms harder to access in real emergencies, when a violent intruder is seconds away and hesitation can get someone killed.
The purpose of these bills — and there are many more like these — is to destroy the Second Amendment in Wisconsin and make criminals out of as many gun owners as possible.
The other purpose of these bills is to test gun owners like you and me, to see if we’ll sit back and do nothing when gun control bills are filed, or to see if we’ll stand and fight.
Gun owners in Florida never thought their Republican-led legislature would mandate waiting periods on gun sales, until they did.
Gun owners in Indiana never thought their Republican-led legislature would pass ‘Red Flag Gun Seizures,’ until they did.
We CAN NOT sit back and just ‘hope for the best’ or blindly trust that the moderates in Madison will shut these attacks down. We need to flood the legislature with grassroots opposition right now!
So please sign and return your “STOP THE WAR ON GUN OWNERS!” petitions immediately.
If these bills receive hearings, stopping them becomes exponentially harder.

Many gun owners are generous when Democrats control the White House or Congress. But when the Republicans are in charge, most gun owners stop donating to groups like WIFC.
We need your financial support to run our mobilization program consisting of:
- Targeted digital ads; which allow us to reach hundreds of thousands of gun owners across the state, giving them the facts about these bills.
- Our texting program; text-based alerts are one of the most effective tools at our disposal because they appear right on gun owners’ phones and have an almost 100% viewing rate.
- The biggest direct mail and email program possible; nothing penetrates Big Tech’s censorship more thoroughly these days than direct mail and email communication.
Our program is designed to MAKE SURE the politicians in Madison know that if they don’t oppose this attack on our gun rights, gun owners will find someone who will!

What we do over the next few months will decide if Wisconsin remains a pro-gun state, or goes blue like Minnesota and Michigan, where gun owners say ‘we never thought it could have happened here.’
