Angler Education Instructor

Connect Your Community To Fishing

Attend a virtual training and prepare to deliver a fishing program in your community.

Who: Anglers, recreation leaders, fishing club members, classroom teachers, community center staff and civic leaders are encouraged to attend this workshop.

What: Virtual Angler Education Instructor Training and Certification Workshop.

Completing this training and a background check will certify you as an Angler Education Instructor.

Even though this is a virtual workshop, you’ll be active and engaged with other participants. You’ll have opportunities to practice teaching tips. After successful completion of a background check, you will be sent a Zoom link, course materials and a list of items to gather and use during and after the workshop.

Successful program models include adult education, community fishing outings, meet-ups for young adults, after-school fishing clubs, summer enrichment classes, day camps, school-family events and helping Scouts earn merit badges.

When: Wednesday, Feb. 12, and Thursday, Feb. 13, from 6 – 9 p.m.

Cost: This workshop is free, and registration is required to confirm attendance.

Register: Sign up for this virtual workshop in Go Wild. Click on the “Manage Safety Education” tab, click “Search for Class” and select “Adult Angler Education/R3 Instructor Certification” as Course Type and “Dane” as County in the drop-down tabs. Register with your 9-digit Customer ID number.

Requirements: Successful completion of a background check completes your certification. Background check forms will be sent to registrants or can be downloaded online. Submit your background check form by Feb. 5, 2025 to ensure enough time for processing.
