Become An Angler Education Instructor And
Share Your Passion For Fishing

Become an angler education instructor and share your passion and skills with the next generation of anglers.

Who: University students, lake and fishing enthusiasts, youth leaders, classroom teachers, community center staff and civic leaders are encouraged to attend as a team or form a team at the workshop.

What: Angler Education Instructor Training and Certification Workshop.

Completing this training and a background check will certify you as an Angler Education Instructor.

We will review the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR’s) suite of Learn to Fish programs, ranging from school-based Angler Education to an adult education program that links our fisheries to a healthy, local diet. We’ll provide you with tips and materials to lead fishing clinics and, if the fish are biting on Sunset Lake, demonstrate how to clean and cook the catch. You’ll have opportunities to practice teaching, too.

Successful program models include adult education, community fishing outings, meet-ups for young adults, after-school fishing clubs, summer enrichment classes, day camps, school-family events and helping Scouts earn merit badges.

This workshop is being offered by the DNR in partnership with the Central Wisconsin Environmental Station, which is part of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point College of Natural Resources
