Bow hunting topic of meetings at Manitowoc Police Department

The two meetings will cover the same topics: purpose, permissions and rules.

MANITOWOC – Meetings to discuss bow hunting in the city will begin at noon and 5 p.m. Aug. 13 in the lower-level meeting room of the Manitowoc Police Department, 910 Jay St.

The meetings will cover the same topics, including purpose of the hunt, type of permissions needed to bow hunt in the city and rules set by the city.

Bow hunting and landowner applications can be obtained and submitted on the city’s website under the police department page, or at the front counter of the police department between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays and 7 and 11:30 a.m. Fridays.

All bow hunting and landowner applications must be returned to the police department by Sept. 6. Approval of applications received after that date may be delayed, the department said.

Between 2007 and 2023, bow hunters tagged 497 deer in the city, including 150 bucks and 347 does.

Last year, eight bucks and 15 doe were tagged and 30 vehicle crashes in the city involved deer.
