Well, the 2018 deer gun season is over and the numbers don’t look the worst. All around, this year was one of the state’s safest gun deer seasons on record. I believe there was only 3 non-life threatening accidents and no deaths. Dying from a heart attack during the deer season is not considered a reportable accident. Listed below are the numbers from the DNR for the 2018 deer gun season:
Manitowoc County kills are as follows:
Bucks – 1,198 Does – 1,580 Total: 2, 778
Statewide Totals are as follows:
Bucks – 104,388 Does – 107,042 Total: 211,430
As a former hunter education instructor, I would like to thank all the instructors for doing such a wonderful job preventing accidents since courses were started. Please keep up the good work. Thank you for a great job done.
