50th Anniversary Open House and 82nd Bird Breakfast Happening at Woodland Dunes
Woodland Dunes is excited for the arrival of spring and celebrations that go with it. During May 17th & 18th, the Dunes will be offering fantastic events for the community.
“We are excited to host an open house for members and non-members alike to celebrate our 50th year,” said Sue Crowley, executive director.
On Friday, May 17th, there will be an Open House from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Festivities will include:
- Free guided hikes at 8:30, 10:00, 1:30 and 3:00 pm
- 12:45 -1:30 Welcome from Sue Crowley, executive director & open mic for guests to share their memories and stories of Woodland Dunes over the last 50 years
- Archived photos over the years on rolling display
- Refreshments all day
- Door prize winnings every hour
- Big drawing at 4:00 – one lucky winner will take home a pair of Vortex binoculars valued at $700!
“The next day is Bird Breakfast for the 82nd year featuring classic and delicious pancakes and ham with maple syrup,” said Crowley. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 – 11:00am at the Nature Center. Tickets are $6.00 each and kids under four years are free. Reservations begin on May 1st and are required.
This 82-year tradition is recognized statewide by bird lovers and is offered as a unique way to encourage folks and families to get out in spring, walk trails, and listen to the new sounds of the season.

9:00am: Hike 3 on Cattail Trail – Led by Becca Jabs

Hike 4 on Willow Trail – Led by Jim Knickelbine
Hike 5 on Cattail Trail – Led by Ben Booth
