Valders Fishing Team doing well in Tournaments. Nice to see youth in the outdoors.

In reading the Valders Journal from Thursday Feb. 27th on page 3 and 23. If you get a chance to read the article is was interesting in seeing how the Valders Fishing Team did in an Ice Fishing contest. The Wisconsin Interscholastic Fishing Club Association cover all types of fishing. The students started out as Ice Fishing group and it looks like they will be fishing this summer also.

Members had to pay $20 to join the club. The team also received support from Viking Bow & Gun Club, Pine River Sportsmen’s Club, Manitowoc County Fish & Game Prot. Assn. and the Forward Endowment Fund.

With the money donated, they were able to purchase two Ice Drills. The club has participated in three tournaments so far this year, all in Northeastern Wis. The article shows you how nice it is for a school to have a fishing club, which can turn into a trap shooting team, cross country skiing and many other outdoor events. The most important part of the team is the support of a leader for the students. It’s very important to have someone who also has an interest in each of the projects the students come up with.

So, if you have the time, check out the newspaper from the Valders Journal.  It is wonderful for the clubs to step up and help the youth of today. Every sportsmans club in Manitowoc County could use some youths getting involved in their clubs. I have been involved in several clubs for close to 56 years already, and I have my grandsons as members of several county clubs.  If you as a parent are not involved in the outdoors, and you have children, we welcome you into any of the county clubs with open arms. If you don’t know anything about the outdoors, like fishing or hunting or trapping, that is why we have the experts in each club to help you, and it’s all free help.

So, if you are wondering where all the clubs are and what are their names, please look on the web page for the Manitowoc County Fish & Game Prot. Assn. at (mantyfg.org) and look under the sub-title called Local Units.  You have over 22 clubs to choose from all around the County. Please check out which club you would like to join and give them a phone call if a number is listed. You can also ask this author for help by emailing him or using Facebook. Come on out and enjoy a night of fun. See you at a meeting.
