PURCHASE YOUR LICENSE

Still need to purchase your license? It’s quick and easy to do online in your Go Wild account. Be sure to get yours before you head out the door.

DON’T FORGET TO REGISTER YOUR DEER

You have until 5 p.m. the day following recovery to register your deer. There are three ways to get your deer registered:

  1. Use GameReg! It’s quick and easy online.
  2. Alternatively, you can call 1-844-426-3734. Be sure to have your county code on hand.
  3. In-person. Search for an in-person deer/bear registration station that provides a phone or computer for public use.

Reminder: Before you get started, be sure to get your unique harvest authorization number ready as it will be needed to complete the registration process.

BRUSH UP ON THE REGULATIONS

Before you head into the field this year, be sure to read through the 2022 hunting regulations.

And don’t forget about double checking shooting hours to know what time your zone opens and closes for each day of the season.

MAKE IT BACK TO DEER CAMP SAFELY

Deer season is all about the memories that last a lifetime. Ensure you get back to deer camp safely to share more with family and friends this season. Remember the four basic rules of firearm safety: TAB-K.

T = Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.

A = Always point the muzzle in a safe direction.

B = Be certain of your target and what’s beyond it.

K = Keep your finger outside the trigger guard until ready to shoot.

BAITING AND FEEDING IN WISCONSIN

Before placing bait this hunting season, check current baiting and feeding regulations for your county.

Check back often for updates to this list as it may change with new positive CWD results in your area.

HELP THE HERD

We have three ways to get your deer tested in 2022:

  1. Visit a self-service kiosk (and use our online form to submit your information to make it even easier).
  2. Go the DIY route and use an at-home sample kit.
  3.  Set up an appointment with a biologist.

CWD testing is easy and free in Wisconsin. For more information on CWD testing options, call (608)267-0866.

And don’t forget to make a plan for disposing of your deer carcasses after you’ve processed it. The movement of CWD positive deer is a key pathway in the spread of CWD. Use our map to find a carcass disposal option near you.

FIND A PLACE TO HUNT

Whether you’re looking for a place to hunt for the first time or you’re just looking for a new spot to try, we’ve got you covered. Use the Public Access Lands Mapping Application to find public land open to hunting.

PARTICIPATE IN CITIZEN SCIENCE WHILE YOU’RE HUNTING

Tell us about what you see while you’re in the field the season and contribute to wildlife management in Wisconsin.

The Deer Hunter Wildlife Survey is a great opportunity to contribute to this long-term database of wildlife observations. New this year, we’ve made it even easier to let us know what you see right from our new phone app.
