Backcountry Hunters & Anglers members are coming together in force during Public Lands Month — and, via BHA’s Public Land Pack Out, leaving them a little better than they were before. Throughout the month of September, we’re offering four ways to engage new members, encourage boots-on-the-ground work and celebrate our public lands.

Public Land Pack Out
All September during BHA’s Public Land Pack Out, BHA members across North America are participating in chapter-organized cleanup events and grabbing garbage bags when they head afield — with the goal of packing out 1,000 bags of trash. The Public Land Pack Out is a chapter-to-chapter competition, and the BHA chapter that packs out the most public land trash will win $1,000 from BHA corporate partner GoHUNT. Find a cleanup event near you here.

Social Media
Help initiate a conversation on social media about the importance of our wild public lands and waters. Let your friends and family know that you’re celebrating Public Lands Month and that you’re passionate about the conservation of our wild places. Join your fellow public land owners by uploading this graphic as your profile picture for the month of September and post photos of time spent on public lands and waters. Tag your images with #PublicLandsMonth and be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook.

Join Backcountry Hunters & Anglers
When you join or renew as an individual, family or supporting BHA member during Public Lands Month you’ll receive a FREE Public Land Owner t-shirt. Stand with BHA to be the voice for our wild public lands, waters and wildlife. Keep public lands in public hands! Join here!

Bonus Podcasts
Special releases of BHA’s Podcast & Blast, hosted by Hal Herring and sponsored by Sitka, will be rolled out weekly throughout the month. Tune in and don’t forget to subscribe. Available on iTunesStitcher and Podbean.

BHA members and supporters will be documenting their Public Lands Month experiences on social media using the hashtags #PublicLandsMonth, #PublicLandOwner and #PublicLandPackOut. BHA launched Public Lands Month in 2017 to focus attention and drive action in support of North America’s public lands and waters. National Public Lands Day in 2019 is Saturday, Sept. 28.
