Friends of the Branch River Watershed Newsletter for April 11, 2021

Hi all!

Al and I met briefly to discuss event planning.

Event #1! Bridge crossing clean-up!! April 24…meet 10 am at Taus Town Hall parking lot. Rain date of 5/1.

Event #2! Al set up our first brat fry: APRIL 30 from 9-2:30 ish. Please call him to help out!

Trees—for those who ordered…. Al will head down to Sheboygan Friday April 23. Make arrangements to pick up either Friday night, etc …. call Al and let him know what works for you.

We won’t schedule another meeting until summer and maybe do it at Lower Cato Falls park.

We will plan on invasives removal days as well….donating the rusty crayfish to Wildlife of WI. Watch for facebook events, emails, etc.

Al wanted to give a shout-out to an amazing man, the late Rollie Olm… who spearheaded the tree planting project by Hempton Landfill. The trees are growing well!

It was brought up in the last meeting we had about sponsoring Woodland Dunes’ massive building project. We had discussed this at length and haven’t heard any negative feedback. Al and I are going to write them a check for $250. We also are going to do the same for Bob Schuh, who’s been a member of our group for a long time and does a great job letting the community know about our events, as well as his amazing work putting together birdhouses! If anyone is interested in some bird houses, contact Al. One of our members, Dave Muench, was hanging wood duck houses along the Branch River the other weekend; thanks Dave for your work attracting these glorious birds!

FOBR WILL SPONSOR YOU, YOUR KIDS/GRANDKIDS at summer camps—Maritime museum and Woodland Dunes have awesome ones… submit your receipt and we’ll reimburse you or if you find one your interested in, give Emily a call to discuss details! These camps are amazing- get kids outdoors and learn a lot of cool stuff. Woodland Dunes is going to have camps this summer….check their website for any you would be able to get your kids into; sign them up and we will reimburse your costs.
